IASI Workshops

Advances in recent developments in statistical methods for data analysis have contributed to the solution and generation of information for decision-making in different sectors of the economy worldwide, such as the health sector, industry, the financial sector, government, among others. As part of this contribution, there are developments in the modelling of correlated data product of measurements of a phenomenon that is observed over time; the management and analysis of large volumes of data; the obtaining of information from official statistics; and the inclusion of both, the subjective probability resulting from the knowledge and experiences acquired in previous researches and the evidence generated by the research being carried out.

Conscious of the importance of disseminating the advances in statistical method development, the Inter-American Statistical Institute (IASI), The Colombian Statistical Society (SCE) and the National University of Colombia, Medellin Campus, joined efforts to organize the workshop entitled “Advances in Statistical Methods”. This event held virtually on 25 and 26 November 2021. On each of those two days, from 9.00 am to 12.00 m, three lectures were given on the advances in statistical methods for data analysis, such as statistical learning, mixed models for longitudinal data, Bayesian statistics, industrial statistics and official statistics: analysis of official time series and multivariate data analysis of official statistics. In the afternoon, between 14.00 and 17.30 h, there were a session of oral presentations in which authors shared the conclusions of their research at the theoretical and applied levels, within the framework of statistical methods.

The event was attended by students, professors and professionals of Statistics and other knowledge disciplines from Colombia, as well as members of the Statistical community from Argentina, the United States, Belgium, Switzerland, Brazil, Ecuador, Mexico, Spain, Peru, Venezuela and Uruguay.
