VII Seminar on

The VII Seminar on Applied Statistics, devoted to “"Statistical Methods in Finance and Economics"“was held in Quito, Ecuador, on July 19-23, 1999, jointly with the First Congress of the Ecuadorian Society of Statistics (Sociedad Ecuatoriana de Estadística-SEE).
 
This Seminar, that counted with sponsorship from the Faculty of Sciences at the Escuela Politécnica Nacional (Quito), from the Institute of Mathematics at the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (Guayaquil), and from the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INEC) of Ecuador, had as its main objective to gather statisticians and professionals of Economics and Finance to present their personal research work, as well as recent developments in the topics chosen for the event.
 
These were:
 
(a) in Finance: Management of Market Risks, By-products, Portfolios' Quantitative Models, Appraisal of Financial Assets;
 
(b) in Economics: Inflation and Deflation, Time Series Analysis, Economic Growth and Development, Economic Forecast and Cycles.

The program included invited conferences, specialized short courses, tutorial courses and contributed papers.
